About saėėda
saėėda (in lowercase) aims to be a premier source of Rwandan artisanal homeware and décor, showcasing the intricate work of local women artisans who use traditional techniques passed down through generations. We are committed to sustainability, ethical sourcing, and making a positive impact on the lives of the artisans we work with. By providing a global platform, we bridge the gap between these talented women and a wider audience, fostering economic growth and cultural appreciation.
Our curated collection features a range of products that tell a story of cultural richness and artistic expression. Each item is thoughtfully handcrafted, ensuring every piece is unique and carries the touch of its maker. From intricately woven baskets to meticulously crafted home décor, our products reflect the timeless beauty and intricate craftsmanship unique to Rwanda.
saėėda is also a community space, bringing people together through our café, where visitors can enjoy Rwandan-grown coffee alongside the warmth and hospitality that Rwanda is known for. As a coffee-growing country, Rwanda produces exceptional beans, and our café gives us another way to share a taste of Rwanda while creating a welcoming space for people to meet, connect and spend time together.
Whether you come to discover a handcrafted piece for your home, enjoy a cup of Rwandan coffee, learn more about Rwandan craftsmanship and culture, or simply spend time in our space, saėėda is about connecting people with Rwanda through craftsmanship, culture, community and shared experiences.

Empowering Women Artisans: With a decade of experience through the Teakisi founder’s previous brand, Beauty of Rwanda, we have learned valuable lessons on sustainability and growth. saėėda is committed to creating meaningful employment opportunities for Rwandan women, empowering them to achieve financial independence and support their communities.

Global Connection and Local Impact: Based in Rwanda, saėėda extends its reach globally through this website and social media accounts. These platforms bridge the gap between local artisans and the global market, connecting visitors from around the world with Rwandan craftsmanship and creating opportunities for local artisans.
A Community Space: saėėda is more than a place to discover beautiful things for your home. Our community café creates a welcoming space where people can meet, connect and share experiences. Serving Rwandan-grown coffee, it gives us another opportunity to celebrate what Rwanda produces and bring people together around good coffee, conversation and community.
Creating Opportunities: Our work is about creating opportunities at different levels – from supporting women artisans and celebrating their skills, to creating a space where people can connect and exploring opportunities for young people to develop skills and pathways into hospitality.
Alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goals: Our initiatives target at least 11 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, reflecting our commitment to addressing global challenges through local actions.

The heart of saėėda lies in the people, stories and craftsmanship behind everything we do. At the centre are the talented women artisans we work with, many of whom balance the roles of mothers, caregivers and breadwinners. Each piece they create reflects skill, creativity and traditional techniques passed down through generations.
By working with artisans in Kigali and surrounding regions, we help bring the richness of Rwandan craftsmanship to a wider audience while creating opportunities for women to earn, grow and support their families and communities.
But saėėda is about more than what you take home. Our community café gives people another way to experience Rwanda – through Rwandan-grown coffee, conversation and connection. It is a space to meet, share, discover and feel welcome.
We invite you to be part of our journey. Whether you purchase a handcrafted piece, enjoy a coffee, visit our space or simply share our story, you are helping us build something rooted in craftsmanship, community, sustainability and opportunity.
Together, we can celebrate what Rwanda creates, support the people behind it and create connections that reach far beyond our doors.
